Come visit Sheep Creek Lodge, an historic Alaskan icon, located
at Mile 88.2 on the Park’s Highway (about 2 hours north of
Anchorage and approximately an hour drive from the south end of
Denali National Park).
We offer the best in Alaskan cuisine and outdoor recreation including
world-class hunting and fishing, backpacking and other activities.
The main Lodge is a magnificent, 10,000 square foot building, constructed
of native Alaskan White Spruce logs, two feet or more in diameter!
Considered by many to be one of the most spectacular structures
along the Alaskan highway system, the Lodge’s strategic location,
majestic appearance, fine dining and superior services has earned
it various awards including Best Lodge of the Mat-Su Valley numerous
times.
During spring, summer and fall, Sheep Creek itself boasts annual
runs of 5 types of salmon, arctic grayling, plus doly varden, and
rainbow trout. King salmon run begins in mid to late May where 30
– 70 pounders are caught. In late June and early July the
more aggressive 10 – 25 pound silver, pink, red and chum salmon
begin their run. Spring and fall are the best seasons for trout
and grayling fishing when 20 – 30 inch rainbows caught routinely.
The Lodge specializes in offering tours and forays to unique areas
throughout Alaska. For the more adventurous, why not enroll for
one of our remote fishing tours for giant sheefish, enormous lake
trout, or perhaps let us take you on one of our exciting fly fishing
or halibut excursions.
For the avid naturalist, there is nothing more exciting than a bird
watching trip of a lifetime to the world famous Pribilof Islands,
or perhaps for a combination of bird watching and whale watching
trip to Prince William Sound and the Homer areas. For those interested
in observing large mammals, identifying wildflowers and viewing
breathtaking scenery, we also provide guided excursions to Denali
National Park, Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and adjacent environs.
Whether relaxing in our cozy cottages, or in our plush interior
rooms, or simply camping within our RV park or campground, the Lodge
is a wonderful place to visit year round. Winter offers snow mobiling,
ski-jooring, and cross-country skiing along 100 miles of connected
trails. Anticipating a wedding or entertaining ideas for other festive
